During the PADI Open Water Diver course, you’ll learn what you need to know to explore the underwater world using scuba. Most people find it a rewarding challenge.

The PADI Open Water Diver course includes three parts: Knowledge Development, Confined Water Dives, and Open Water Dives. Knowledge Development covers the principles, concepts and terms you need to know for dive safety and enjoyment. During the Confined Water Dives, you learn and practice scuba skills in a pool or water with pool-like conditions, and will make one or more minidives, which take you through the same steps you follow when you make open water dives. To complete training you practice, apply and demonstrate what you learn during four Open Water Dives at a local dive site.

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

The course usually takes 3 to 4 days.  If you are short on time we can also offer the PADI Scuba Diver course which can be completed in 2 days.

Age Requirement:  10 years or older

Course Prerequisites:  Able to swim; medically fit for diving

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to improve your underwater knowledge and skills. You can enroll immediately after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification regardless of your skill level.  The course helps you build confidence in navigation, fine-tune buoyancy skills and introduces you to different diving activities such as wreck diving, night diving or underwater imaging.

You’ll complete five Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three from a long list that we offer, for a total of five dives.
During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.

The PADI Advanced Open Water course usually takes 2 to 3 days.

The PADI Rescue Diver course teaches you techniques to avoid and manage problems and improve your confidence as a diver. During the course you’ll become a better buddy by enhancing your ability to identify potential problems and by practicing dive emergency protocol. The subject is serious but the training is fun – many divers tell us the PADI Rescue Diver course was their favorite!

The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills.

We normally teach the Rescue course over 3 or 4 days and use only experienced PADI Instructors of minimum Staff Instructor rating.  To be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver it is a requirement that you also hold a current EFR (or equivalent) certification.  See below for more information on our EFR courses.
