Disability & Diving

– Diving for All –

Our approach to diver education is focused on respect and what potential divers can do rather than on what they can’t do.   Become a better and more flexible dive professional and maximise the chances for everyone to dive, no matter what their disability.

Scuba diving has been shown to have numerous social, physical and psychological benefits for disabled individuals.  Teaching people with disability to scuba dive is rewarding for both student and instructor.  We offer training to dive professionals through both PADI and Disabled Divers International (DDI).

Are you are a dive professional who holds the Divemaster rating or higher and has a desire to help disabled divers experience a truly liberating and life-changing event?  Then check out our FAQs below and contact us for more information.

Both PADI and DDI offer training for dive professional who guide and teach divers with disability.  Although meeting skill performance requirements may be challenging, PADI Professionals can assist individuals with disabilities to learn dive skills and theory so that they achieve their potential, and the PADI Adaptive Techniques Specialty aims to provide PADI Professionals with practical and effective techniques who can meet requirements for PADI’s certification.

The Pro Trainer program through DDI would suit those who are looking to certify disabled divers who are unable to meet PADI’s performance requirements to dive independently.

We can teach the courses individually or combine the two certifications in one program.

To participate you need to:

  • Be a PADI Divemaster or higher.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Submit proof of training in First Aid / CPR within the past 24 months.

This program is generally run over two days and involves classroom lectures as well as both confined water and open water workshops.
