PADI Divemaster Program

– Dive Like a Pro –

The Divemaster course is PADI’s first professional-level certification, and sets the foundation for everything that follows.  Gain dive knowledge, supervision abilities and become a role model to divers around the world

Deciding to take the plunge into life as a dive professional is an exciting time.  The PADI Divemaster course is a great opportunity for those seeking a personal challenge as well as for divers who want to turn their passion into a career.

There are lots of options when it comes to choosing the best place to take your Divemaster training.  Fortunately we have it covered.  Read on to see why choosing The GoPro Family for your Divemaster course in Mexico could be one of the best decisions you make.

What is the best type of dive shop for your Divemaster Course?

There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to choosing the right dive center for your Divemaster course. Over the years we have grown an extended family of high quality, professional PADI dive centres through which we are offering awesome Divemaster Programs across Mexico.  We are excited to be able to offer these different options to suit everyone.  Each with their unique benefits and, of course, outstanding diving.

Check out our options:

Our Flexi-Pro Divemaster program can be completed as a full-time program over 4 weeks, or a longer part-time program where you can fit your Divemaster training around work or other commitments.  You will get to experience how a smaller, busy dive operation in the Riviera Maya works.

Under the mentorship of our experienced PADI Instructors Course, you will get to experience assisting courses; guided dives; ocean; cenotes and Cozumel trips.

Our PADI 5-Star IDC center is equipped with two large classrooms, training pool with shallow and deep water, Wi-Fi and on-site accommodation in private rooms for ultimate convenience.

You will be able to complete most of the knowledge development portion of the course via eLearning at a time that suits you, so that more time with us is in the water.

During your training you can complete your PADI Freediver course, and will get involved in our Dives Against Debris and other community and ocean protection initiatives.

Mahahual is situated at the southern tip of the Mexican Caribbean and has escaped a lot of the development going on elsewhere in the Riviera Maya. With unspoiled mangroves just a few meters from the beach, the waters there offer a multitude of underwater biodiversity and impressive reefs.

The experienced staff at Takata Experience will ensure you get the most from your course.  Being involved in dive shop activities, you will develop your dive skills and gain confidence as a dive professional. Takata is also a busy Research Center and during your training (3-6 weeks) you will have the opportunity to interact with their programs, volunteer in community activities and use your time in Mahahual to gain a deeper understanding of the issues facing our ocean world.

There’s also the option to extend your stay and complete their Coastal Ecology Program or Reef Monitoring Program alongside your Divemaster course.  As part of these programs you will join the research teams and gain invaluable knowledge and experience with their team of scientists

We’re super happy to join forces with Javi & Monica at Blue Magic Scuba for Divemaster programs.  Now a protected Marine Reserve, Cozumel is famous for drift diving, lush walls and colorful corals. Spotted eagle rays, lobsters and nurse sharks are common creatures to be spotted on dives.

If you take the Reef-Pro Divemaster Program you will be based in a busy dive centre with their own boats and you’ll spend 4 weeks getting real hands-on experience in what it takes to be a successful dive professional. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.  The program includes free accommodation and of course diving in some of the best locations on the planet!

Huatulco is not as well known as the Riviera Maya and Cozumel but is a rising star of Pacific coast diving locations.  Situated in Oaxaca state with its rich culture and history, the bays of Huatulco are home to over 30 dive sites.  Marine life and dive sites are varied.  There’s plenty of interest for the macro-lover, as well as eagle rays, puffer fish, and even migrating whales if you are lucky!

You will be training at a busy PADI IDC dive center, Huatulco Dive Center, with experienced instructors and will receive the training and experience to turn you into a perfectly prepared Divemaster ready to start your dive career.

You will also get the opportunity to learn things like tank filling, customer care and equipment maintenance, for a complete training package.  Shared accommodation is also included.

Still unsure which of these amazing options to choose from?  Just contact us and we will help you decide.

What is a typical day on the PADI Divemaster course?

The great thing is there is no typical day because a Divemaster’s job is so varied.

The PADI Divemaster Course curriculum includes knowledge development sessions covering topics such as your role as a Divemaster; decompression theory;  and environmental awareness.  You will complete in-water workshops with your instructor to develop your demonstration quality skills, as well as well to keep your rescue skills sharp.

You will also conduct practical applications covering all aspects of divemaster duties.  These include giving dive briefings, dive site management, and undertaking PADI Programs such as Reactivate and Skin Diver course.  Plus you will be working under the supervision of PADI Instructors to assist them teaching different courses and guiding certified divers.

You will also get involved in other aspects of daily life at your dive shop.  That will vary from dive shop to dive shop.
